In a holiday season unlike any other, we’re all looking for ways to connect and experience the joy, love, and care of the season.

And although we may be physically apart, The Washington Chorus has creatively re-imagined its beloved “Candlelight Christmas” concerts – among the DC regional community’s most treasured holiday traditions – as an intimately sung, beautifully staged concert, led by our new Artistic Director Eugene Rogers, and filmed at the Music Center at Strathmore (to an empty hall with no audience, and under strict health and safety protocols).

These concerts are livestreamed online Friday and Saturday, December 18 and 19 (7:30 pm) and Sunday, December 20 (3 pm), via TicketSpice, and tickets are just $15 each.

Here are four ways The Washington Chorus’ beloved “Candlelight Christmas” livestream online concerts are guaranteed to bring comfort and joy to you and your loved ones this holiday season:

1.      An intimate connection: this beautifully staged and produced event, filmed at the stunning Music Center at Strathmore concert hall in the suburbs of Washington, DC, offers viewers a chance for intimate connection with the musicians of The Washington Chorus like never before. Through carefully crafted camera work by the professional production team behind the concerts, viewers will have the chance to experience the emotions and expressions of “A Candlelight Christmas” in a close and deeply personal way.

2.      Spirited sing-alongs: although the Chorus misses singing together in person, it warmly invites you to join us and sing along from home on four beloved holiday carols: Once In Royal David’s City; Hark! The Herald Angels Sing; The First Nowell; and Silent Night. Our program book includes lyrics for all four sing-along from home numbers: raise your voice with us!

3.      A first chance to experience the talent and joy of our new Artistic Director, Eugene Rogers: in what has been a very different kind of debut season, this series of concerts marks the official public debut of TWC’s new Artistic Director, Eugene Rogers. This is your first chance to see and hear Eugene in action as The Chorus’ new conductor and Artistic Director. Eugene’s spirited conducting, warm persona, and beautiful musicianship will inspire and delight you in a program he’s very thoughtfully put together to celebrate our most treasured traditions while introducing meaningful new music.

4.      Voices, bells, and organ: nothing rings in the holiday season quite like the combination of voices, bells, and organ, and TWC’s re-imagined “Candlelight Christmas” includes all of those beautifully feel-good elements, with singers of The Washington Chorus in virtual and recorded performances; master organist Paul Byssainthe, Jr.; handbells played by members of the Chorus; stunning vocal solos; and a special collaboration with the Duke Ellington School of the Arts Concert Choir.

The Washington Chorus looks forward to celebrating the season with you on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, December 18-20, with our “Candlelight Christmas” concerts. Can’t make one of these dates or times? Simply purchase a ticket to one of the livestream shows and you’ll be sent access to stream the concert at your convenience any time from December 21 to 31, 2020.
