About:
The Washington Chorus and National Philharmonic join forces to uplift American voices and experiences on stage in “Stand the Storm.” On this program, composers Nkeiru Okoye, Leonard Bernstein, John Legend, Common, and Rollo Dilworth demonstrate how to stand through adversity, celebrate progress, and enact the change necessary to build American communities that are fair and just for all.
Featuring the world premiere of Okoye’s And the People Celebrated commemorating the election of Barack Obama as the first African-American US President, a brand-new symphonic orchestration for Dilworth’s Weather: Stand the Storm, and the beloved arrangement of “Glory” by TWC’s own Eugene Rogers, join us as we examine our nation's disparities and find strength and unity through this powerful performance.
