Jennie Weyman
Jennie Weyman is delighted to rejoin The Washington Chorus as Communications Manager, having previously worked with TWC as a Development Fellow in 2018. She has long been dedicated to developing community within arts organizations, both amongst staff, artists, and audiences, stressing the interconnectivity of all operations and activities in determining an organization’s character and culture.
Jennie served as the inaugural Managing Director of the Friday Morning Music Club from 2019-2022. Acting as sole full-time employee, she managed FMMC’s general operations, development, and marketing. Under her tenure, FMMC secured its first General Operating Support Grant from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, and FMMC maintained its programs and financial stability throughout the COVID-19 pandemic. Prior to FMMC, she served as Development Research Coordinator for Arena Stage at the Mead Center for American Theater.
Jennie began her professional career as a music educator, teaching for several years for Loudoun County Public Schools. She continues to teach musical theater and voice workshops in her spare time (whenever that is!). She received a Bachelor of Music in Music Education, magna cum laude, from James Madison University and a Master of Arts in Musicology from the University of Maryland, College Park.
A local of Northern Virginia, and a lifelong choral singer and soloist, Jennie has made the DC area her home several times over. She is an active member of Washington Revels and the Capitol Hill Chorale (serving on their volunteer “staff” since 2015). She also serves as the soprano section leader and cantor at The Church of the Epiphany in downtown DC. When not working, singing, or volunteering, Jennie loves to read cozy mystery novels, travel as much as her schedule and wallet will allow, tackle new sewing projects, and cook extravagant meals with friends. She and her soon-to-be-husband, John, live in Arlington with their dog, Hattie, and two cats, Salem and Sabrina.
