Dianne Peterson
Dianne Peterson was honored with the title of Executive Director Emerita when she retired from The Washington Chorus in 2016. In her over three decades with TWC, Ms. Peterson led the Chorus to become one of the region’s premier arts organizations and one of the largest-budgeted choruses in the nation. Some highlights of time with TWC include receiving multiple Grammy nominations and winning two Grammy Awards, as well as being honored with Chorus America’s Alice Parker ASCAP Award and the prestigious Margaret Hillis Award for Choral Excellence. During her time, the Chorus made five international tours, singing in some of the world’s most prestigious venues. Ms. Peterson has served on numerous arts panels, including those of the National Endowment for the Arts. Throughout her career she has served on many boards, including as a board member and former officer of Chorus America. She was also a trustee and past Vice President of the Washington, DC Chapter of The Recording Academy. She is currently Vice Chair of the board of the New Orchestra of Washington and returned to the board of Chorus America in 2018. Ms. Peterson is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacob School of Music where she received a BA and a MA in vocal performance and musicology.
