Emma Moores is Deputy Director for three-time nominated and two-time Grammy Award winner The Washington Chorus. As Deputy Director, Emma partners closely with the Executive Director in support of The Washington Chorus’ mission and leads organizational effectiveness in development, human resources, finance, administration, project management, and special initiatives.

Prior to becoming Deputy Director in 2019, Emma served TWC as its Development Director since 2013, working in individual contributions, government grants, private and public foundation grants, and special events.

As the Operations and Marketing Manager of YOA Orchestra of the Americas from 2010 to 2013, Emma managed performances that brought her throughout twelve countries in Central and South America, in some of the world’s most renowned concert halls—from México’s Palacio de Bellas Artes to Chile’s Teatro del Lago—with guest artists including Plácido Domingo, Philip Glass, Joshua Bell, and Sarah Chang, among others. From 2009 to 2014 Emma also managed operations for Youth Orchestras of Prince William, the instrumental music program serving youth in Prince William county, Virginia.

Emma Moores grew up outside of Seattle, Washington and studied trombone at the University of Washington with Don Immel (Head of Brass and Orchestral Studies, The University of Melbourne), Philip Brown (Second Solo Trombonist, Sønderjyllands Symfoniorkester, Denmark), and Ko-ichiro Yamamoto (Principal Trombonist, Seattle Symphony). She has had the opportunity to perform throughout the United States and in Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Japan. Her claim to fame was performing solo trombone with the University of Washington’s Husky Marching Band on Queen’s Bohemian Rhapsody for 72,000 fans at the Seattle Seahawks’ NFC West Championship game.

After graduating cum laude in 2008 with a Bachelor of Music in orchestral performance from the University of Washington, she earned her Master of Arts in Arts Management from George Mason University. She and her husband Patrick live in Virginia with their son, Henry.
