Prescreen Video Recording Requirements
Please note that, due to high audition requests, we may ask for prescreen videos from soprano 1 & 2, alto 1 & 2, tenor 2, and bass 1 applicants.

1. Introduction & Questions: Please state your name, voice part, and how you heard about TWC.
2. Excerpt: Prepare the Brahms choral excerpt (measures 1 - 62):

Starting Pitch: Click here to play a virtual piano to get a starting pitch3. Vocalization (please sing all three examples):
(3.1) Using the assigned starting key below per your voice part, sing a 1-3-5-8-5-3-1 sequence on any vowel ascending to your highest key.
Sopranos begin in D major
Altos begin in B- flat major
Tenors begin in C major
Basses begin in A flat major(3.2) Using the assigned starting key below per your voice part, sing a 5-3-1 sequence on any vowel descending to your lowest key.
Sopranos begin in E flat major
Altos begin in C major
Tenors begin in D major
Basses begin in B major(3.3) Each voice part should record the vocal exercise below in the following three ways: 1) forte 2) piano and 3) without vibrato, please sing a 1-3-5-8 sequence on the vowel “ah” and hold the top/final note for three beats. Use the instructions below for your starting pitch per voice part.

Basses D major -
1. We find it best to use a horizontal orientation when recording your video (can be whatever device you have).
2. Be sure to speak clearly and record yourself with good lighting and sound.
3. Please record all your responses to these questions in one take (I.E., in one continuous video).
4. If possible, please name your file as follows: Name, Voice Part, Audition.
5. Upload your file to the link below. We’ll let you know the results by July 15, 2024.
Live Audition Requirements
Auditions take about 7-10 minutes. What will be asked of you during your audition?
Excerpts
Excerpt 1 - Please choose one of the following two:
BRAHMS: A German Requiem, mov. IV (measures 1 - 62)
MOZART: Requiem, Hostias (measures 1 - 34)
Excerpt 2 - A solo of your choosing, and any style is welcome (aria/gospel/etc). You may also sing the other selection from Excerpt 1 (Brahms & Mozart). A pianist will be present at your audition if you wish to bring sheet music.Vocalization
The conductor will lead you through simple singing exercises to explore your range and sound.Sight-reading
A part of the audition will be to test your reading. To help prepare for this, sing through some hymnals or other simple 4-part pieces.
