Marketing and Box Office Manager

 

Department: Marketing & Patron Services
Reports to: Executive Director
FLSA Status: Full time, exempt (1.0 FTE)
Compensation: $55,000 - $70,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

MARKETING MANAGEMENT

A. Creative Strategy and Campaign Development

  • Create, execute, and track a multi-channel, season-long marketing plan to advance TWC’s mission and maximize single ticket revenue 

  • Collaborate with the Artistic Director and staff to shape messaging and visual strategy 

  • Propose and execute digital storytelling content (photos, short videos, behind-the-scenes, etc.) 

B. Marketing and Content Production

  • Create and manage content calendars covering major performance milestones 

  • Produce basic marketing pieces for every program (e.g. email and postcard designs)  

  • Write and edit copy for social media, email newsletters, and printed materials 

  • Coordinate printing or vendor services as needed for approved collateral 

  • Maintain and update key areas of TWC’s website — including event listings, program info, and landing pages 

C. Channel and Community Management

  • Ensure engagement and quality in the total patron experience, including marketing and pre-concert communications, ticket purchase and fulfillment, hospitality, and post-concert communications and surveying 

  • Manage social media and other marketing channels including print, radio, direct mail, email, and digital advertising campaigns. (Instagram, Facebook, X, LinkedIn, TikTok, Threads, Google Ads campaigns) 

  • Monitor engagement, respond to audience comments or inquiries, and elevate relevant interactions across social media platforms 

  • Provide front of house coordination for any venues without built-in venue staff 

  • Recruit and train volunteers and other staff 

  • Determine and produce day of show signage needs 

  • Organize check-in 

  • Supervise Will-Call table for all concert performances 

D. Audience Targeting and Analytics

  • Utilize Patron Manager CRM (in coordination with TWC's database administrator) to segment lists and create targeted messages 

  • Ensure contact data aligns with approved marketing goals and compliance requirements 

  • Build TWC’s digital advertising reach and conversion strategies 

  • Provide monthly summary reports with key metrics (reach, engagement, conversions, etc.) 

  • Analyze patterns of audience growth and identify opportunities for improvement 

  • Identify audience segments and manage email/communications lists in Mailchimp and Patron Manager 

BOX OFFICE MANAGEMENT

  • Serve as head liaison with concert venue box offices (e.g., The Music Center at Strathmore, Lisner Auditorium, Cramton Auditorium, DAR Constitution Hall) to set up ticketing platforms and manage holds for the Chorus 

  • Manage ticketing contracts or other agreements with primary partner venues as well as consignment vendors such as Goldstar, TodayTix, TravelZoo, etc. 

  • Coordinate presale offers and comp tickets in cooperation with Director of Development 

  • Generate ticket revenue projections and weekly sales reports  

  • Manage ticket discount program to increase access to concerts 

  • Provide clear and thorough patron communications for routine ticketing questions, phone orders, and customer support 

Qualifications

  • 3 or more years’ experience in social media and/or marketing, or sales preferably in the performing arts or with non-profits 

  • Must be based in the greater Washington, DC area 

  • Self-Starter with an ability to think both strategically and tactically. 

  • Exceptional writing and communications skills 

  • Knowledge of social media best practices, with proven success in implementation 

  • Proficiency with CRM systems required, familiarity with box office functions or the Salesforce/Patron Manager platform a plus 

  • Experience with design software such as Canva, Adobe Express, or similar tools 

  • College degree or equivalent experience required 

  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends
