Isaac Sanabria, Bassoon

Originally from Lakeland, Florida, Isaac Sanabria is currently the principal bassoonist of The United States Air Force Band in Washington D.C., a position he has held since 2022.

He began his bassoon studies at the age of nineteen as a sophomore at Brigham Young University, where he received his B.M. in Bassoon Performance in 2021. During his time there, he became the first bassoonist to win the annual concerto competition two years consecutively, performing Andante and Hungarian Rondo by C.M.V. Weber and Mozart’s bassoon concerto. In 2025, he was selected as a featured soloist for The U.S. Air Force Band’s spring tour, performing Duett-Concertino by Richard Strauss. He also pursued graduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin. His teachers include Christian B. Smith and Kristin Wolfe-Jensen. 

Isaac Sanabria also performs regularly in the area, having performed with the National Symphony Orchestra, Alexandria Symphony, Fairfax Symphony, and The Washington Chorus. In his free time, he enjoys playing tennis, volunteering at local animal shelters, and spending time with his partner James and their three cats.
