The Washington Chorus Gives Away Hundreds of Free Tickets Through "Operation: Spread The Music"

To celebrate the joy of togetherness and the spirit of inclusion this holiday season, The Washington Chorus is thrilled to give away hundreds of free tickets to expand access to families and students for its acclaimed “Candlelight Christmas” concert performances, running December 16-23 at the Kennedy Center and the Music Center at Strathmore:

The Washington Chorus announces Operation: Spread The Music!

Among the DC regional community’s longest-running holiday musical traditions, The Washington Chorus’ “Candlelight Christmas” is a spectacular and joyful celebration of the season, featuring the 100-voice Washington Chorus (two time Grammy award winners) led by Artistic Director Eugene Rogers, with brass, bells, carols, organ, and lots of high holiday cheer.

With special guests this season including MetOpera soprano Aundi Marie Moore and talented high school choirs from Duke Ellington School of the Arts (Washington, DC) and Reservoir High School (Fulton, Maryland), TWC’s “Candlelight Christmas” is an unforgettable and beautiful celebration of music, community, and seasonal joy.

TWC now invites individuals to nominate themselves or others for this free ticket initiative – the intention is to offer free tickets to  TWC’s “Candlelight Christmas” for students and families who otherwise may not be able to attend or especially those who haven’t before attended. Self-nominations are invited, as are nominations of others, including social service organizations, students, schools, and families from within Washington, D.C., as well as across the DC metropolitan community.

The deadline for nominations is 5 pm on Monday, November 29, 2021. All nominations will be carefully reviewed by a group of Washington Chorus singers and staff, and all nominees will be made aware of the review process results no later than November 30, 2021.

The Washington Chorus’ “Candlelight Christmas” is made possible thanks to support from the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities, National Capital Arts and the US Commission of Fine Arts, the Morris & Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation, and hundreds of generous individuals like you.
