As excitement builds in the DC region and across the globe, The Washington Chorus wants to share an overview of what you can expect from their Saturday, October 3rd TWC 60th Birthday Bash event – a global online fundraising party celebrating TWC’s 60th anniversary that is free and open to anyone in the world.

Here’s an overview of the event that TWC Board Chair Kara Morrissey calls “the feel-good, can’t-miss online event of the fall.”

  • Register now: Registration is now open on the Auction Harmony platform, the all-inclusive online platform hosting the TWC 60th Birthday Bash. Simply click here to register yourself on Auction Harmony, then start shopping the auctions and placing your bids! The auction opens at 9 am Eastern on Wednesday, September 30, and closes at 9 pm Eastern on Saturday, October 3.

  • Pre-show: although the main event begins at 7 pm Eastern on Saturday, October 3, you don’t want to miss the exciting and fun Birthday Bash pre-show, which runs from 6:30 to 7 pm! From 6:30-6:50, TWC tenor and Trustee – and resident punster – Sam Zhao leads “choral geek trivia” that will make you smile, then from 6:50-7 pm you’ll hear from TWC members and see photos from 60 years of Washington Chorus concerts and community. All of this happens live on the Auction Harmony platform from 6:30-7 pm Eastern on Saturday, October 3.

  • The Birthday Bash event: Then starting right at 7 pm Eastern, we blast off to our Birthday Bash main event, a fun and fabulous online fundraising party celebrating 60 years of The Washington Chorus. There are many components to this event, all of which you can enjoy in one place, on the Auction Harmony website: with Executive Director Stephen Beaudoin and Artistic Director Eugene Rogers as co-hosts, there will be short films telling the story of TWC’s incredible impact; a terrific auction line-up available for bidding throughout; special premiere performances by The Washington Chorus (including the world premiere of a movement from the TWC commissioned new work “Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow” by Damien Geter) and MetOpera soprano Aundi Marie Moore; 60 years of photos and archives; and many chances to comment, share, and support the work of The Washington Chorus throughout. Oh, and would you like a delicious fresh baked birthday cake and two bottles of bubbles delivered right to your door in the DMV the night of the event? You’ll have a chance to bid on that, too!

  • Bidding and Supporting: starting at 9 am Wednesday, September 30 and until 9 pm on Saturday, October 3, you have the chance to shop, bid, and support The Washington Chorus. The auction line-up includes incredible packages and experiences you won’t find anywhere else – a chance to have a custom musical composition created for you or a loved one by composer Damien Geter; a voice lesson or conducting class with Eugene Rogers; a Brazilian feast experience; a getaway to Bethany Beach; and much more. Click here to shop the auction and find other ways to support TWC.

  • After-party: after celebrating TWC’s 60th, we’ll share a special link to join us in Zoom party rooms after to keep the conversation, connections, and community going. Perhaps you’ll meet a new friend or reconnect with a TWC singing alum from years ago?

Don’t miss this opportunity to celebrate and support the unique power of singing together with one of the most acclaimed choirs in the United States. Wherever you are in the world, click here to register for free to join in this terrific TWC 60th Birthday Bash.
