Important Update Regarding TWC's 2025 Gala
To our patrons and donors,
As you have likely seen over the past several weeks, there have been a number of disruptions to federal funding that have impacted nonprofits and federal agencies across the country. Unfortunately, The Washington Chorus is no exception. We have a number of funding sources in question: several of which were already awarded and several that we had hoped to receive in the future.
In the face of that uncertainty, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our upcoming gala, American Stories, on March 29. We are working to develop alternative ways to come together to celebrate and fundraise for TWC in a less costly way in the future, but the most important thing in the meantime is that we remain committed to our mission and our performances.
While we do have a path forward this season and are building a lower risk budget for the next, we walk a fine line that depends on the support of our community. It’s not a guarantee that we will lose our federal funding, but we need to be prepared for that scenario, and others like it, as we continue to work towards our long-term goals. TWC’s Staff and Board are working tirelessly to address concerns like these in this constantly changing environment.
All of this means that contributions from individual donors to The Washington Chorus will be critical—now, more than ever. Recurring giving in particular provides a steady and predictable source of income, which is invaluable in times like these. If you are able, please consider a one-time or recurring gift to TWC. Our donors are the reason we are able to maintain the community we have built, and that will be even more true in the days ahead. We will each play a vital role in the future of this organization.
We firmly believe in our community here at The Washington Chorus, and we know that we will find a way through—together. The ongoing support we have already received gives us the flexibility to adapt in these turbulent times in our beloved city, as well as the security necessary to continue to present new and innovative music to our audiences despite these challenges. We are grateful to the 15,000 audience members who have attended our concerts this past year, who value the work that we do and recognize the importance of lifting our voices together to tell musical stories of all shapes and sizes.
Thank you again. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns,
