Joyfully Together brings energy, smiles, and a LOT of dancing
On Sunday, September 18th, The Washington Chorus partnered with Wolf Trap to produce Joyfully Together, a community-powered singing celebration. TWC is proud to have featured EIGHT diverse DC area ensembles for this evening spent singing loud and proud, together.
The entire concert was conceived by TWC’s Artistic Director Eugene Rogers who lead what amounted to over a thousand voices in a massive group choir at Wolf Trap’s Filene Center. When asked how he felt about the concert, Dr. Rogers said “when we come together in song, so many beautiful things can happen with our community. I want to express my total joy in working with the exceptional team at Wolf Trap to create this new festival of singing and choirs”
Highlights of the day included group performances of Rollo Dilworth’s “United in Purpose” and Reena Esmail and Melissa Studdard’s “We Are Love.” The latter of which was a world-premiere piece that was commissioned by TWC for this very concert.
Other group songs included beautiful renditions of “Take Me Home, Country Roads,” “Oh Shenandoah,” “America the Beautiful,” and more!
