TWC Thanks Outgoing Executive Director Stephen Beaudoin For His Leadership
After three and half years of service, Executive Director Stephen Beaudoin will be leaving The Washington Chorus (TWC) on August 19 to focus more time on family.
Stephen joined TWC in February 2019 from the Maryland Symphony bringing with him a wealth of leadership experience spanning the nonprofit, public, and private sectors. Paired with a lifelong commitment to creating social change via the arts, Stephen has stewarded the Chorus’s mission and values to serve the community through collaborations, regional premieres, and a continued commitment to commissioning and presenting work by creators and artists of color.
“I can’t express how appreciative I am to Stephen for his energy, creativity, leadership, and friendship,” says TWC Artistic Director, Eugene Rogers. “After spending my first two seasons with TWC and half of it engaging virtually and unable to meet in person with the Chorus, audiences, and the community, Stephen was instrumental in ensuring a seamless transition and helping me settle in and realize my vision for the Chorus. He will be greatly missed!”
Recognized in 2019 as one of Musical America’s “Top Movers and Shapers,” Stephen has many notable accomplishments during his time with TWC, including:
Instrumental in commissioning and producing Damien Geter’s Cantata for a More Hopeful Tomorrow.
Development of innovative digital programming during the COVID pandemic when the Chorus was unable to perform live, stewarding the financial stability of TWC during a challenging time.
Built partnerships and collaborations with arts organizations and artists.
As a search for his successor is conducted, Stephen will be replaced in the interim by Trustee, Anthony Salvi-Exner who will resign from his role as TWC Treasurer.
“We are incredibly grateful for Stephen’s joyful leadership and inspiration during what has been a challenging time for the arts and The Washington Chorus,” says Board Chair Kara Morrissey. “During his tenure, he has guided the organization through an Artistic Director search and transition; the challenges, changes, and uncertainties of the pandemic, and led our return to the live stage. We wish him the very best as he embarks on his next chapter.”
