Dozens of DC arts leaders came together to offer a warm and enthusiastic welcome for Dr. Eugene Rogers

On Saturday, dozens of DC arts leaders came together to offer a warm and enthusiastic welcome to our Artistic Director, Dr. Eugene Rogers. After an inaugural season filled with Zoom rehearsals and virtual performances, we could not be more thrilled to welcome Eugene, live and in-person, to TWC and the greater Washington D.C. region.
Remarks welcoming Eugene were offered by Classical Movement’s Neeta Helms, by TWC board chair Kara Morrissey, by Chorus America President and CEO Catherine Dehoney, and by Metropolitan Opera soprano and TWC collaborator Aundi Marie Moore, who remarked that “I have known and worked with Eugene for a long time, and I don’t think you all know just how special Eugene is – but you’re all about to find out!”

As part of the gathering, Baritone Andrew Philip Xavier-Smith gave an impassioned performance of “The Impossible Dream” from “Man of La Mancha.” The entire evening – filled with introductions, reunions, and welcomes – was truly a dream. We cannot wait for more in-person celebrations, community-building and music-making as part of our 2021-22 season.
